12.10 Attendance and Tardiness

Regular and punctual attendance is mandatory and is an essential function of each employee’s job. The faculty should be in class 5 minutes prior to the start of the classes.

Absenteeism. It is your responsibility to know and comply with your schedule each week. If for any reason, you are unable to report for work as scheduled, you must personally call your Program Director/Department Head as well as the Campus Dean at least two hours prior to the start of your class. If your supervisor or Campus Dean is not available, please contact another member of the administration or the Human Resources Department. Barring extenuating circumstances, if you miss work and did not inform your supervisor/manager in advance, the absence will be considered unexcused. Discipline for unexcused or excessive absenteeism including patterns of absenteeism will follow the progressive discipline process.

If you fail to show for your scheduled class, and do not call (no-call/no-show), disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment will result. Two consecutive days of no-call/no-shows will be considered a voluntary termination of employment

Tardiness. If you know that you are going to be late for your scheduled class, you must personally notify your Program Director/Department Head and Campus Dean as soon as possible prior to the start of the class and provide that individual with your expected arrival time. Repeated tardiness or patterns of tardiness will follow under the progressive discipline process and will lead to disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment.
