12.1 Code of Conduct

To ensure orderly operations and provide the best possible work environment, FNU expects you to follow the rules of conduct that will protect the interests and safety of all employees and the Institution.

It is not possible to list all the forms of behavior that are considered unacceptable in the workplace; however, the following are examples of infractions of rules of conduct that may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment. This does not represent an all-inclusive list of misconduct.

  1. Theft or inappropriate removal or possession of university property
  2. Falsification of time-keeping records
  3. Unauthorized changes, including but not limited to names, grades, financial information
  4. Unauthorized purchases
  5. Working under the influence of alcohol or illegal drugs
  6. Possession, distribution, sale, transfer, or use of alcohol or illegal drugs in the workplace while on duty, or while operating employer-owned vehicles or equipment
  7. Fighting or threatening violence in the workplace
  8. Boisterous or disruptive activity in the workplace
  9. Negligence or improper conduct leading to damage of university-owned or customer-owned property
  10. Insubordination or other disrespectful conduct
  11. Violation of safety or health rules
  12. Sexual or other unlawful or unwelcome harassment
  13. Discrimination
  14. Retaliation
  15. Possession of dangerous or unauthorized materials, such as explosives, in the workplace
  16. Possessing weapons on premises or off premises while performing duties for the University, unless otherwise permitted by applicable law or in compliance with Section 790.251, Florida Statutes, which prohibits weapons inside our buildings or displaying them out in the open; legally permitted weapons may only be kept locked in the owner’s vehicle
  17. Making threats of violence or publishing false and malicious, obscene or bullying statements concerning a student, employee, supervisor, or other University official, or its services
  18. Excessive absenteeism and/or tardiness or any absence without notice
  19. Unauthorized disclosure of business secrets or confidential information
  20. Unsatisfactory performance or conduct

Employment with FNU is at the mutual consent of FNU and the employee, and either party may terminate that relationship at any time, with or without cause, and with or without advance notice.
