6.18 Nepotism

FNU will not consider any member of an employee’s immediate or extended family for employment. The term “immediate or extended family” includes an employee’s spouse, brother, sister, parents, children, stepchildren, father-in-law, mother-in-law, sister-in-law, brother-in-law, daughter-in-law, son-in-law, cousin, aunt, uncle and any other member of the employee’s household and/or extended family.

Employees of FNU who marry or become members of the same household may continue employment if there is not:

  • A direct or indirect supervisor/subordinate (or any combination thereof) relationship between the employees.
  • An actual conflict of interest or the appearance of a conflict of interest.
  • Employees working at the same location and/or within the same department.

Should one of the above situations occur, FNU will attempt (but is not obligated) to find a suitable position within the University to which one of the affected employees may transfer. If accommodations of this nature are not feasible, the employees will be permitted to determine which of them will resign.
