Responsibilities of the DCE

  • Acquire and maintain current legal contracts with clinical sites that agree to provide students the opportunity to participate in the delivery of quality physical therapy services under the direct supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist (PT) or Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA).
  • Oversee the process for the students to have the required items completed prior to scheduling their clinical practicum such as: background check, immunization records, CPR/BLS certification, etc.
  • Coordinate and provide students with their schedule, site information and site requirements in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate scheduling with the site and provide the SCCE with the student’s pertinent information.
  • Maintain open lines of communication with clinical sites and physical therapy departments regarding student’s performance, progress, and any concerns on behalf of the site or the student.
  • Gather sufficient data from consultation with the CI, site visits, and CPI to correlate with the course requirements in order to assign the final grade for the clinical practicum.
