Red Flags
If the student receives a red-flag on any critical safety criteria prior to or at midterm assessment on the CPI, the DCE will be immediately notified by the CI to create a plan for the student to correct unsafe behaviors and successfully complete the clinical experience.
If the student receives a red-flag on any critical safety criteria prior to or at the final assessment on the CPI, the DCE will discuss with the SCCE and the CI regarding the situation(s) that led to red flag. The DCE will determine the next steps which may include, but are not limited to: remediation and extended time spent at the clinical site or failure of the clinical experience.
Should the student fail the clinical experience; the DCE will then discuss with the PD the potential for remediation of the entire clinical experience. Remediation of a clinical experience will be determined on a case-by-case basis and can include, but not limited to; extension of the clinical experience, completion of a remedial clinical experience, or dismissal from the program.
