4.2 Academic Affairs and the Faculty

The Office of Academic Affairs is under the direction of the Vice President of Academic Affairs and supported by the Associate Vice President of Academic Affairs. The Office of Academic Affairs oversees the planning and administration of the instructional programs of FNU. The Office of Academic Affairs leads in the overall academic planning and direction of FNU. Matters concerning faculty, curriculum and development of graduate and undergraduate programs, diplomas, and certificate programs are under the purview of this office. To fulfill this objective, this office supervises academic support and sponsors research and faculty training.

The VPAA acts as liaison to the FNU Board of Governors on academic matters. Faculty should feel free to communicate with the VPAA at any time. The Office of Academic Affairs has an open-door policy toward all members of FNU. An appointment is not required.

The Division Head and the Faculty. FNU is divided into six distinct academic divisions. Each division is led by a Division Head, who oversees and guides the Division and its Departments. A Division Head supervises the faculty and provides academic and administrative support. They provide orientation to new faculty members and guide them through their first teaching assignment. The Division Head develops and oversees all new programs in the Division in conjunction with division faculty. They facilitate the interaction of the Division’s units in the various campuses and collaborate with the Department Heads and Program Directors in the planning of the schedules and faculty advising and mentorship specifically related to an academic program.

The Campus Dean and the Faculty. The Campus Dean holds an administrative and operational function within the University. FNU relies on the Campus Dean, and Assistant Deans, to provide operational and administrative support. The Campus Dean and the Assistant Deans operate in a support capacity to manage facilities, safety and security, campus budgeting and expenditures, staff hiring, policy compliance, and other functions related to the efficient operation of the University. The Campus Dean and Assistant Deans work closely with the Vice President of Operations and the VPAA to maintain operational efficiencies throughout the university.
