Inappropriate Conduct
The following list presents generalities considered to be inappropriate conduct (faculty members will distribute additional regulations as they relate to their individual classes and clinical sites):
- A violation of Physical Therapist Assistant program policies and procedures
- Acts such as stealing, drug or alcohol abuse and/or use before or during program active enrollment including clinical practicums will not be tolerated and are grounds for immediate dismissal from the program.
- Chronic tardiness or absenteeism from class will be addressed by the assigned faculty member for each course.
- Dishonesty and/or cheating through plain or hidden acts (refer to Academic Dishonesty Section)
- Failure to complete assignments or failure to demonstrate satisfactory course progress due to disinterest or other attitude indicators will be considered as grounds for dismissal from the program.
- Failure to follow instructions from the faculty member, designated instructor, or other responsible persons in a patient care situation.
- Failure to report to clinical assignments in the designated uniform (refer to Clinical Procedures section).
- Failure to treat patients, family members, physicians, nurses and other clinical facility employees with dignity and respect.
- Negative behavior that infringes on other students’ ability to perform their duties.
- Other infractions are specifically noted in writing by the faculty member
- Students are also covered by the Code of Behavior as set forth in the University Catalog.
- Unexcused tardiness or absenteeism from assigned clinical practicums is a serious offense. In the event of an unavoidable delay or absence, the student must notify the faculty member or designee by appropriate means prior to the scheduled clinical practicum. Refer to the Attendance policy.
- Unprofessional behavior such as loud, rowdy, or obscene language in patient care or other areas of the hospital/facility/clinic.
