Financial Aid Programs Available at FNU
Florida National University participates in a variety of financial aid programs to help students pay for the cost of their education. Financial aid may come from federal, state, institutional, or private sources and is generally divided into the following main categories:
Grants
Grants are need-based funds that do not need to be repaid. They are typically awarded by the federal government, state governments, or the university.
Examples include:
- Federal Pell Grant
- Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG)
- State grants (based on residency and eligibility)
Federal Work-Study
This program provides part-time employment opportunities for eligible students to earn money to help cover educational expenses. Jobs are typically on campus or with approved off-campus partners.
Loans
Loans are borrowed funds that must be repaid, usually with interest. The federal government offers low-interest student loans with flexible repayment options.
Types of federal student loans include:
- Direct Subsidized Loans (need-based)
- Direct Unsubsidized Loans (non-need-based)
- Direct PLUS Loans (for graduate students and parents of dependent undergraduates)
Scholarships
Scholarships are merit-based or need-based awards that do not require repayment. These may be offered by the university, private donors, community organizations, or businesses.
Institutional and Private Aid
FNU may offer institutional scholarships based on academic performance, financial need, or specific program criteria. Students may also apply for aid from private sources such as foundations, employers, or civic groups.
