Laboratory Safety

  • All equipment must be handled carefully and may NOT be removed from the lab. Students are obligated and expected to comply with the rules and regulations to maintain safety.
  • All hazardous waste, sharps and garbage must be disposed of in the proper receptacles.
  • Any breakage of equipment must be reported to the laboratory instructor immediately.
  • To maintain cleanliness and prevent damage to electrical equipment, no eating or drinking is permitted in the work area of the laboratory.
  • Proper body mechanics must be practiced when positioning, transferring or moving mannequins or humans.
  • Label any broken equipment as “Broken” or “Defective” and notify the Instructor or Program Director.
  • Equipment with frayed, loose, or other observable dysfunctional wiring must not be in use and be reported to the program faculty immediately.
