Field Trips/Off-campus Experiences

(Academic Faculty)

Field trips will be scheduled off-campus to various clinical and/or ancillary facilities to provide students with the opportunity to observe firsthand the processes, organization, equipment and systems operating in the work place, especially in areas that cannot be replicated on campus. All field trips are mandatory for students to attend; therefore, the program’s attendance policy will apply.

The duration of a fieldtrip is normally no more than one day in duration and under the supervision of a PTA program faculty member. Field trips begin and end at the outside site. Students are responsible for their own transportation and any fees or injury occurring during transportation and/or at the site will be the sole responsibility of the student.

The student will have signed upon admission into the program a “Waiver and Release of Liability” form.

The “Waiver and Release of Liability” includes, but is not limited to;

  • Classroom instruction,
  • Lab activities,
  • Clinical experiences/internships and/or /practicums
  • Field trips.

In addition, students will be required to have knowledge of general safety procedures before participating in an off-campus experience. Upon arrival at the field trip site, a faculty member and/or a field trip site representative will review any specific safety rules for that particular site
