HSC 1538 Medical Terminology for Respiratory Care

This course provides the foundational knowledge necessary for understanding the terminology used in various medical fields, focusing particularly on the terms relevant to respiratory therapy. It covers the building blocks of medical words such as prefixes, suffixes, and roots, with a specific emphasis on those related to the central nervous system, circulatory/cardiac/hematology, pulmonary, renal, endocrine, and lymphatic systems—the ones most commonly encountered by respiratory therapists. Additionally, it includes a brief overview of other body systems.
