Patient Care Technician, Certificate

Program Description:

The purpose of this program is to prepare the student for an entry-level position as a patient care technician. The program provides competency in the fundamentals of patient care and basic nursing skills. The student will also gain the knowledge and skills required of home health aides as well as obtain training in basic ECG and venipuncture (for blood collection). Graduates will be qualified for employment in hospitals, nursing homes, and other health-related organizations. The university awards a certificate upon completion of this program.

Overall, the 20 Credit Hour Certificate remains 20 credit hours, but it will be delivered in 8 courses instead of the current 9 courses.
