CGS 2540C Database Management System
This course introduces the fundamental concepts and techniques required to design, implement, and manage relational database systems. Students will learn data modeling, entity-relationship design, normalization, and Structured Query Language (SQL) for data definition and manipulation. Emphasis is placed on translating real-world problems into efficient database structures and developing queries to retrieve and analyze data. Using industry-standard relational database management and SQL query tools, students will design and implement databases based on business requirements and apply best practices for data integrity and organization. The course also introduces the use of artificial intelligence (AI) tools to support SQL development and data analysis, preparing students for modern data-driven environments. Prerequisite: CGS1030.
